How to Improve the Abrasion Resistance of Cotton Gloves
Cotton gloves are widely used in occupational safety & health due to their affordability, practicality and breathability. However, ordinary cotton yarn is relatively soft and tends to wear out easily under high-intensity work conditions. The abrasion resistance of gloves primarily addresses friction and scratches from object surfaces and extending their lifespan. Therefore, to improve their abrasion resistance is crucial.
The most effective way to significantly increase the abrasion resistance of cotton gloves is start from material improvement and surface coating. When purchase and produce gloves, prioritize cotton-polyester blended yarns, to utilize the high strength and abrasion resistance of polyester fibers to compensate for the fragility of pure cotton.
A more direct approach is to use surface coating and beading processes. For example, apply layer of nitrile, latex or PVC dots to high-wear areas, such as the palm and fingers. These external coatings act as hard "armor," withstanding friction and scratches from external surfaces directly and preventing direct damage to the cotton fibers. Furthermore, in daily use, to alternate gloves based on the wearing level of left and right hands, or use double-layered method under extremely high-intensity working conditions, which can effectively slow down the wear of single glove.
