How to Choose High-Temperature Resistant Gloves?

In high-temperature working environments such as metallurgy, casting, glass manufacturing, fire fighting and welding, high-temperature resistant gloves are crucial protective equipment for ensuring worker`s hands safety. Faced with a wide variety of products on the market, choosing the right high-temperature resistant gloves scientifically is particularly important.
 
Firstly, it's essential to understand the operating temperature range. Different gloves have significantly different temperature resistance ratings, commonly ranging from 200℃, 300℃, 500℃, 800℃, and even higher. When choosing gloves, select those with a temperature at least 50-100℃ higher than the actual contact temperature or ambient temperature to avoid safety hazards.
 
Material is a core factor in choosing high-temperature resistant gloves. Currently, high-end high-temperature resistant gloves often use the blend of aramid and carbon fiber as the main raw material. Aramid fiber (Kevlar) has extremely high strength and heat resistance, with a decomposition temperature exceeding 500℃, and it does not melt or support combustion. Carbon fiber possesses excellent thermal conductivity and thermal shock resistance. The combination of these two materials significantly improves the overall high-temperature resistance of the gloves, making them both tough and wear-resistant while blocking heat transfer effectively.
 
Structural design is equally crucial. High-quality high-temperature resistant gloves typically employ a multi-layered, specialized high-temperature structure. The outer layer uses high-temperature resistant and abrasion-resistant aramid carbon fiber composite fabric, the middle layer incorporates heat-insulating fibers and aerogel materials. The inner layer uses soft and comfortable cotton and fire-retardant lining. This multi-layered composite structure forms an effective thermal barrier, keeping hands relatively comfortable even in high-temperature environments and reducing the risk of burns.
 
In addition, the following points should be considered when choosing gloves. Glove length (ideally covering the forearm), flexibility (not too stiff to hinder operation), cut & puncture resistance, and certification standards (such as EN407, ISO, etc.). Reputable brands usually specify the exact temperature resistance time (e.g., continuous use for 30 seconds or longer at 400℃), consumers should check them carefully.
 
In short, choosing high-temperature resistant gloves should not be based solely on price, but also should focus on aramid-carbon fiber composite material with multi-layer special high-temperature structure, combining with comprehensive judgment based on actual working conditions. Hand safety of frontline workers can be truly protected only by choosing the right product.
